Tax investigator sues Todd Chrisley for defamation

Todd Chrisley’s list of legal woes keeps on growing.

The reality star is being sued for defamation for the second time by a woman who investigated his tax evasion lawsuit.

Amy Doherty-Heinze, a former Georgia Department of Revenue investigator, claims the “Chrisley Knows Best” star, 53, has been spreading lies about her on his “Chrisley Confessions” podcast.

According to the lawsuit filed on Thursday and obtained by Page Six, Doherty-Heinze says the reality star “falsely and maliciously” accused her of criminal conduct during the recent investigation and claimed she should be prosecuted instead of him.

In addition, the reality star used Doherty-Heinze’s name numerous times during a podcast episode in September 2021 and allegedly “pursued a campaign” to get her fired.

This isn’t the first time the reality star has gotten into a legal battle with the former tax investigator.

Back in July 2021, Doherty-Heinze sued Chrisley for the same offense saying he accused “her of a multitude of crimes and wrongdoing” on his social media sites and podcast while she was investigating him four years prior.

Although that case is still pending, the former tax investigator slapped Chrisley with the new lawsuit after he failed to retract his statements.

Todd and his wife, Julie Chrisley, were found guilty of bank fraud and tax evasion in June after originally being indicted in August 2019 and again in February.

Although the couple, who face up to 30 years in prison, have yet to be sentenced, they filed a joint motion for a new trial on the grounds that a witness had “lied” during their spring trial.

The prosecution alleged that the reality stars submitted fake documents to banks when applying for loans. They also claimed the mother of three, 49, used doctored credit reports and bank statements to rent a home in California.

Todd was found guilty of conspiracy to commit bank fraud, conspiracy to defraud the United States and tax evasion while Julie was convicted of the same charges plus wire fraud and obstruction of justice.

Following the verdict, the couple — who share children Chase, 26, Savannah, 25, and Grayson, 16 — leaned into their faith and asked fans for spiritual support.

“I want you all to know that the messages that we’re receiving, the mail … the gifts that people are leaving at our doors, the flower arrangements … all of this stuff is just overwhelming and very much appreciated,” he said on his podcast in June.

“[But] we don’t want you … wasting your money on things like that. … We don’t need anything. So, really, the best gift you could give us is prayer.”

Although the two are facing a “very sad, heartbreaking” road ahead, the pair are trying to focus on the things that they can control.

“But we still hold steadfast in our faith, and we trust that God will do what he does best because God’s a miracle worker,” Todd — who also has two children from a previous marriage — said in another episode.
