The Good Detective Season 2: Plot, Premiere Date, Cast, Trailer, Filming Location, Review, Where to Watch & More
The first episode of the series begins with a man attacking a woman. He is shown dragging her, kicking her, pulling her hair, and calling her a whore as he does all of these things. He comes dangerously close to killing the woman and then calls Woo Tae-ho for assistance. The offender asks Woo Tae-ho to cover the incident, and Woo Tae-ho complies with his request. Woo Tae-ho is married to a wealthy woman, but their marriage is strained, and they do not get along very well. The news that his wife is expecting a child hasn’t gone over well with her, na-na. The explanation is not discussed in the pilot episode for whatever reason.
A scenario is featured in which Detective Oh Ji-hyeok, who his supervisor has blackmailed, asks to go on leave to take care of his sick child. His superior was aware that he was under the influence of psychotropic substances, and the informant he had was also taken into custody. The circumstances left Detective Oh Ji-hyeok with no other option but to take a leave of absence. It’s possible that this is the event that prompted him to take a sabbatical from his job as a detective.

The Good Detective Season 2: Review
In the case known as the White Gown Serial Murder Case, the victims, who were all dressed in white gowns, were killed at random, and the investigators were unable to determine a motive for the killings. A brawl can be seen breaking out between members of the Seoul Criminal Investigation Division and the Incheon Violent Crime Division Unit Two. It would appear that they are in a race against time to capture Hyeong-bok, the culprit. These two teams are shown having some very amusing chats. Do-Chang is struggling to get a good night’s rest and is also experiencing problems with his drinking. It’s possible that he’ll decide to choose a desk job instead of continuing his work in the field. But if he wasn’t a part of it, Incheon Violent Crime Division Unit Two wouldn’t be the same.
Because each of them is shown to be making a significant contribution to the betterment of society, I believe that the title should have been modified to read “The Good Detectives.” They are devoting both their days and their nights to the task of locating the offender. The remuneration that these detectives are receiving is commensurate with the amount of effort that they have put in so far. They are even able to catch dogs after they have solved major crimes. Even detectives are susceptible to the harmful effects of criminal activity; working with criminals on a regular basis does not make them immune to their effects.
The Good Detective Season 3: Cast
Detective Mang-gu is hands down my favorite character. After gaining a lead, whenever the team goes outside to investigate, he either relieves himself or finds some other way to divert their attention, which then causes problems for the other investigators. In the pilot, he walked to the restroom to relieve himself, but instead he found himself being pursued by a wild boar. Everyone on the team could be seen sprinting. In the very last episode, Mang-gu was being pursued by bees, and the rest of the squad had to flee in order to rescue themselves. The crowd is unable to contain their laughter during these two incredibly funny scenes, and as a result, they end up laughing.
Despite the fact that the Incheon Violent Crime Division Unit may be lacking in individual skill, they are consistently successful in solving major crimes and uncovering the truth because to their collaborative efforts. Despite the fact that they are a relatively small team, they have capabilities that are comparable to those of the Seoul Criminal Investigation Division, which is comprised of the very best investigators that Korea has to offer. The second season demonstrated how individuals are affected by traumatic experiences during their formative years, which can lead to them becoming monsters during their adult lives.
The plot has not lost any of its intrigue since the first season, and several big crimes have been revealed. The dynamic duo of Son Hyun-joo and Jang Seung-jo creates wonderful duets and serves as the primary draw for both seasons. The performances are excellent and do the characters and storyline justice. Those in the audience who enjoy watching criminal thrillers are strongly encouraged not to miss The Good Detective. I enjoy how even at dramatic moments, Korean dramas are able to sneak in some comedic moments, which is a skill that can only be found in those shows. The energy of the audience is lifted and a sense of equilibrium is restored as a result of this. The audience won’t have time to get bored this way.

The Good Detective Season 2: Plot
A foe with greater power than before emerged, calling into question the authority of justice. People feel powerless in the face of the unforgiving truth whenever justice is subverted.
Now, the detectives who were working the case in the western section of Incheon have gotten back together. Even though he has neither money nor strength, Kang Do Chang (played by Son Hyun Joo) lives with the pride of being a detective. They deliver justice to the innocent victim alongside Oh Ji Hyeok (Jang Seung Jo), who is also involved in this process.
They intend, without a shadow of a doubt, to apprehend the true offender. In this world, only the criminals are apprehended, while the innocent are set free. Nevertheless, they unearth another secret that was concealed beneath the string of murders.
This is the first time I’ve watched one of Choi Jin Won’s projects, and I have to say that the majority of the plot made sense and was concise in its delivery. The major details were all well thought out, and at the end, they connected beautifully. Choi Jin Won is a screenwriter who has worked on a number of Korean dramas over the course of his career. When writing a script about the police or murder, logic or common sense often take a back seat. However, I thought that “The Good Detective” did a good job of making this process seem so real. Writing concise scripts is not an easy task, and when writing a script about the police or murder, logic or common sense often take a back seat.
Kdramas that focus on police work or murder investigations have long been popular in our community. However, I’ve noticed that more recent productions don’t seem to have the same impact as the older ones did. I believe this is primarily due to the repetitive nature of the subject matter and the way that all investigations start to look the same the more kdramas you watch on the subject. “The Good Detective” was able to avoid becoming such and has grown successfully with each episode, becoming one of the hit JTBC dramas of 2020.
People hung around regardless of whether or not “The Fantastic Detective” had the most popular cast members because the performances and the story itself were so good. However, I wouldn’t argue that “The Good Detective” has the most popular cast members. The major character is an ahjussi actor named Son Hyun Joo, who many of you will remember from the drama “Itaewon Class,” in which he played the role of Park Seo Joon’s father. This drama did not achieve a high level of popularity because the lead actors are not particularly well-known abroad.

The Good Detective: Production
Although Korean murder mysteries are typically well-made in terms of direction, editing, and acting, the problem, in my experience, is always in the screenplay. Because it takes a more realistic approach to investigators than the majority of other similar works, “The Good Detective” stands out from the crowd significantly.
The drama doesn’t go out of its way to make you like the characters, and at first, they show you how flawed the police can be and how human greed can ruin so many lives. Additionally, the drama doesn’t go out of its way to portray the lead detective as the moral standard best guy, as is typical in Korean dramas. That took me by pleasantly unexpected means.
The script kept getting better; it didn’t get worse or slower during the second half, but it did get a little unclear in the middle, but it still managed to keep its entertaining factor throughout. The script is consistent enough for me to assume that Screenwriter Choi Jin Won either finished his work before shooting a good portion of the drama or had a solid idea about how he wanted the drama to play out. My guess is that he either finished his work before shooting the drama or had a solid idea about how he wanted the drama to play out.
It is a gray area that many of us navigate, no one is 100% good or 100% bad and I liked that message, people can be good in so many different areas but also bad in other areas enough to cloud our judgment of how their sins should be handled or prosecuted. “The Good Detective” does not try to paint people as pure evil or good; rather, it portrays a situation in which neither extreme is true. It teaches a lot of valuable lessons about life, which is something that I really love when it’s done in a Korean drama.
I’d say that “The Good Detective” had one of the better scripts out of the bulk of the 2020 kdramas, and anyone who enjoys well-written screenplays, like myself, would enjoy this one. I’d say that “The Good Detective” had one of the better scripts.
