A new preview for Star Wars’ The Blade continues to show the High Republic’s Jedi Master Porter Engle as an impressive swashbuckling swordsman.
Warning! This post contains a PREVIEW for Star Wars: The High Republic- The Blade #2
In a new preview for The High Republic- The Blade, Jedi Master Porter Engle continues to demonstrate his impressive skills as a major lightsaber legend in the Star Wars galaxy, exuding a bold confidence that may soon be shaken thanks to a brand-new threat. Joined by his sister Barash, the two Jedi have come to the plenty of Gansevor to end a siege between two warring factions. As such, it seems as though there will be plenty of opportunities for the “Blade of Bardotta” to show off his prowess with his very unique cutlass-styled lightsaber.
In the new preview for Star Wars: The High Republic – The Blade #2 from Charles Soule, Marco Castiello, and Jethro Morales, Porter and Barash are already in the middle of the fray, using the Force to knock missiles off course before facing an entire firing squad. However, Barash doesn’t feel the need to ignite her own lightsaber, trusting her brother who easily deflects the incoming bolts with ease using not just his cutlass-saber, but also his shorter concealed lightsaber he revealed in the previous issue. Here are the preview pages and synopsis for the upcoming issue:
Star Wars’ Porter Engle Has Some Serious Jedi Swagger
- Star Wars: The High Republic – The Blade #2
- PART II
- UNMATCHED! Jedi Master PORTER ENGLE has journeyed with his sister, Barash, to a planet far on the Republic frontier in response to a desperate request for aid. They are certain they will succeed. No one in the galaxy fights like Jedi Porter Engle. No warrior can stand against him. No one even comes close. They are certain…until they see what awaits them.
While Barash does get hit by a stray blaster bolt, it only serves to give Porter more focus, defecting the next few bolts directly back at each shooter, knocking their blasters from their hands with an amazing accuracy that stops the fight right then and there. However, this scenario does suggest that Porter’s confidence may prove to be his downfall. Just because the Blade of Bardotta is a legend with a lightsaber doesn’t mean he’s perfect and can’t make mistakes.
Likewise, the synopsis speaks to Porter and Barash’s shared confidence as well. For all their swagger that has likely been earned through countless victories, it seems as though the events on Gansevor will shake them both to their core. Whatever this new threat might be, it will likely be the reason why Porter ends up trading his lightsaber for a ladle, becoming a Jedi cook in his later years as seen in The High Republic’s first publishing phase.
At any rate, Porter Engle is an incredible saber swordsman who’s already earned his status as one of the greatest lightsaber wielders in the entire Star Wars timeline. It would certainly be exciting to see him spar with Jedi Master Yoda as well as to imagine fateful duels with future great swordsmen such as Count Dooku or Mace Windu. The full The High Republic – The Blade #2 releases on January 25th from Marvel Comics.
